Layla: Middays 9 AM - 3 PM

Hi, I’m Layla. I joined the Mix 103.1 team in September 2011. Though I’m sort of a newbie around here, I’m no stranger to northwest Florida. Growing up in south Alabama, I spent many a weekend soaking up the sun on the beautiful beaches of the Emerald Coast, and I’m thrilled to be back.
All my life, I wanted to be a TV reporter, but after graduating from Auburn University, I accidentally got into radio at Mix 96.7, a Qantum of Auburn station. I loved every minute of it! I eventually got to “live the dream” of being on TV, but after a few years of doing both TV and radio, I decided that radio was the fun job, and life’s just too short not to have fun, now isn’t it? Since then, I’ve done work in the Seattle/Tacoma/Olympia market, and in Tucson, Arizona.
For me, music isn’t just a job-- it’s a passion. I consider myself very lucky to be able to surround myself every day with great co-workers, a beautiful view of Destin Harbor, and some of the best music you’ll hear anywhere. When I’m not working, watching sports is my thing. I love rooting for my Auburn Tigers (or whoever’s playing against Alabama), and watching baseball. I’m more than halfway to my goal of seeing a game in every MLB stadium. I live in Fort Walton Beach with my husband, Ricky, and our two dogs, Mitch and Ellie.
Thanks for listening!

Johnny C: Afternoons 3 PM - 8 PM

Hi, I'm Johnny C. I've been a proud member of the Mix 103.1 crew since January of 2009. I'm a true blue Florida local - born in Fort Walton Beach, raised in DeFuniak Springs, graduated from Walton High School in 2002 and OWCC (now Northwest Florida State College) in 2004.

I actually grew up listening to Mix 103.1 back in the days of Sharky, Kevin Campbell, Cindy O'Shea, and Kasey Kruz and was actually part of the reason I wanted to work in radio. Oddly enough, I got my start in radio announcing Walton High Baseball games and playing music in between innings. I did a full season on a small AM station in DeFuniak Springs then moved to FM when I started college at OW.

After getting my AA at "Oh-Dub" I went on to study at the University of Central Florida in Orlando where I got my degree in Radio/Television Production. During my time there I hosted the UCF morning radio show that got maybe 5 listeners (one being my mom) but it was still one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life.

After college I worked for Golfweek Magazine in Orlando producing videos for their website and got to travel all over the country and overseas. With all the traveling I didn't have much time for a radio job, but I still had the itch. Then in 2008 I moved back to my home in DeFuniak Springs and started on weekends on Mix 103.1 while substitue teaching at Walton Middle and High School.

I now work at Mix 103.1 full time and love every second of it. I still fulfill my teaching itch by working with the interns here over the summer. When I'm not "working" (How can you call doing what you love, "work?") I'm either watching football at home with my loving other half, Kirsten, playing poker, writing for the Beachcomber, announcing for the Fort Walton Beach Roller Derby team the Beach Brawl Sk8r Dolls or making web videos enjoyed by... um... dozens all over the world.

Hope you enjoy your Dose of Johnny C. for your drive home and thanks for listening!!!
